Please make sure you are up to date on vaccines, heartworm preventative, and monthly flea & tick. If there is any evidence of fleas on your dogs when training starts, or at any time during the class, you will not be able to attend the class sessions until your dog is flea free. Jen will be happy to schedule make up sessions as needed in the event you have to miss a class. 

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Training


Start Date: May 17th, 2015 Class Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM Duration: Once a week for 6 weeks - Sundays Cost: $99 per dog (includes the test). TheCanine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Therapy Dogs International (TDI) uses the AKC Canine Good Citizen test as a key component of its therapy dog assessment. CGC is now an official Title.

S.T.A.R Puppy Training


Start Date: May 17th, 2015 Class Time: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Duration: Once a week for 6 weeks - Sundays Cost: $99 per puppy (includes the test). This class is a step above basic obedience to help get your puppy prepared for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training. For details visit the AKC’s website http://www.akc.org/starpuppy/.  If your puppy has already completed a puppy class, we are having a CGC class from at 2:30-3:30 PM on the same dates. We will also offer CGC classes in the spring for puppies doing the puppy class this time.

Introducing our trainer... Jennifer Lyons.


Jen has been training dogs for 12 years now. She originally started training for Petsmart, but quickly moved on to become part of the American Kennel Club (AKC) training program. Jen is an accredited trainer/evaluator for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and S.T.A.R Puppy programs. She also does beginners agility training. Jen offers training classes, as well as individual training for those wanting one on one, or work with specific issues. All training is positive reinforcement. In 1999 Jen volunteered with the Mid Atlantic German Shephard rescue, and she is currently a foster home for bottle fed kittens for BARCS animal rescue. Jen is located in Glen Burnie, Maryland where she lives with her husband, son, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 3 birds, a lizard and a fish.
