Waltzing Matilda's Hazel's Walter

Hi Michelle,

We wanted to give you an update on Mr. Walter, Wally, Walt, Walter-boy, Muffin Man, Walter the Bear. He is about 35 lbs and growing very well.  He has one week of socialization & basic obedience training left.  The instructor said he will graduate with flying colors, we are very proud of him :) Next will be big boy obedience class where we'll be able to get our recalls down. Right now, the world is too fun and big a place to worry about coming when we call him. He has much less "off leash" time and we bring many more treats on our walks.

Walter LOVES the water. Our walks take us by a hose where we stop to drink and fill up his travel water bowl.  Then it's off to the tennis courts to look for balls and run around to shorten the claws a bit :) then he drinks a bunch of water, then we go to the outdoor pool, with outdoor showers.  Walter likes it when at least 3 of the showers are on so he run through them all.  We think that's a bit wasteful, but every once in a while we treat him to a multi-shower experience. then we walk around until he tells us it's time to go home and get some salmon snacks.

He is very loving and has lost 3 teeth. We are still feeding him Acana, every-once-in-a-while, we add some raw food (from organic pet store) for an added treat, he really seems to like that.  Everyone still compliments his temperament and general happy nature.  Kate and I are madly in love with him and his antics.

Thank you for bringing Walter into our lives.

Love owners,

Tara and Kate

Waltzing Matilda's Goldie's Frisco

Hi Michelle!  In the back of your mind you have probably wondered about Frisco.  You selected the perfect dog for us.  He is so smart and cuddly.  He loves lots of attention, and learns so quickly.  I have not formally had him trained.  I took him to be evaluated for a class this summer, and he is at intermediate.  He found his voice early, and is noisy at times.  He has such a high pitched bark when he is excited that it hurts people's ears!  He barks in the car on rides, so we will work on that this summer.  There are lots of friends for Frisco in the neighborhood, and he gets to play often.  He likes to go to bed on the early side and is cranky when he's tired.  When he gets up in the morning he is revived and ready to go.  we have gotten compliments on him since the beginning.  His fur is like cotton.  He is such a good looking dog and has an amazing coat.  He is so soft.  He is so well behaved, and people are surprised at how young he is.  He has behaved and listened well from the beginning.  He learned to sit and wait until we tell him it's ok to eat.  It only took 2 times until he got it and he has never tried to eat until he knows its ok.  We really appreciate your holiday card and keeping in touch.  I hope all is well and you enjoy the summer!

Waltzing Matilda's Eva's Cooper

Dear Michelle and Gang!
I was so happy to receive your Christmas card last month! I have been super busy playing and sleeping, and I'm just finally getting to write you! I really wanted to let you know how I've been doing.
So far - I love my new home. Mommy and Daddy are super nice. They always tell me how handsome I am, how proud they are of me, and how much they love me. They even set up play dates for me :-) My favorite play dates are with my girlfriend, Kona. She's an 11 month old Cockapoo, and just super cute. We have so much fun playing together. We chase each other and even share our toys.  I have another best friend, Westley. He is so much fun. We are getting really good at playing tug-o-war! He's a little bigger than me now, but not for long!!

Right now, I weigh about 22 pounds. I've been gaining about a pound and a half a week. Mommy and Daddy are still feeding me 3 times a day, and I love eating!!  They've also taught me a few tricks - I’m really smart. I can "sit", "shake", lay "down", "leave it," and "high five!" I’m also getting really  good at using the bells on the back door. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of me (probably because they've been working so hard at it). I feel like I'm almost potty trained, but every kid is still going to have an accident now and then. I'm just so glad that Mommy and Daddy don't get mad at me for it. (I'm a cheater, though. I just give them that cute little look of mine - then there's no chance they can get mad!) All 3 of us are excited to get me enrolled in some puppy classes! They should be starting soon.

Not only am I smart, but I've also been told how much of a stud I am, whatever that means! All the people in the vet's office think I’m so handsome, a real looker! It helps that I'm always on my best behavior there, too. And our neighbors just love me. They always come over to say hi when we're outside. I pretty much stop traffic on our street, too. Everyone just loves to stop and pet me. I'm such a ham!! The one who REALLY loves to play with me, though, is my Grandpa. He comes to see me a lot, and I'm always SO happy to see him - my tail starts wagging soooo fast.

I also got to experience my first Christmas - and my first snow!! I LOVE THE SNOW!! It's so fun to jump around in, and especially to eat! Daddy had to dig me out a spot to go potty in, bc the snow was all the way up to my belly!! And Christmas - oh what fun! I got soo many new TOYS :-)

I hope you are all doing well, and trying to stay warm.
I will tell Mommy and Daddy to send some new pictures soon so you can see how big I am getting! I hope you enjoy these ones!

Waltzing Matilda's Eva's Riley

Dear Michelle and Jamie,

We wanted to thank you very much for bringing Riley into our lives. She is an amazing puppy. She has been a wonderful addition to our family of 3 dogs and 4 boys. Her personality is everything that you talk about on your web site. She is sweet, gentle, calm, very smart and is so adorable she looks just like a stuffed animal. Did I forget to mention she doesn't shed! She loves to cuddle and gives kisses. We love the way she tilts her head and sits at her bowl when she wants to be feed. She has bonded wonderfully to Noah who has some special needs, and they have become very attached. Riley is providing the comfort and confidence that we thought this breed would provide him. Seeing them together is priceless. She has been sleeping in his room at night and from the very first night has slept through the night. Amazing! Her housetraining has been going great and she already knows how to sit and come when called. Everyone fights over spending time with her because she is so lovable. We also wanted to add that our veterinarian has been very impressed with her as well and has asked us for your web site so he can recommend you to his clients. Since he obviously sees many dogs, that is a major compliment.  Thank you again for our wonderful Riley.

Waltzing Matilda's Eva's Sedona

Hi Michelle!

We love Sedona so much!  He is used to his leash now and we can take him for long walks. He walks nicely on the leash. He really is awesome, and such a good boy.  He likes being outside so much that he fights coming inside.  He has gotten so much bigger. He is eating much better and doing really well with potty training...  Really not having accidents.  If he needs to go indoors he uses the puppy potty, but he goes outside most of the time.

He is such an awesome puppy.  He now weighs over 10 lbs.  He still looks like a stuffed animal... he is just that cute.  I want to keep him small for a while so I can carry him around and he just loves it! We are able to take him almost everywhere we go since he can be held. We love him so much. He is such a sweet heart and loves to be held like a baby:)  He really enjoys playing with our grand dog. We love him so much!!

Thanks for giving us the perfect new family member!

Waltzing Matilda's Dori's Lady Italia

Hi my name is Eveline with an amazing story. It all begins with my love for dogs. My children kept asking for a dog, but it was always impossible because of my allergies to animals. Then my oldest daughter began to look on the Internet and she discovered the Australian Labradoodle. I thought could it be true??? Even for me??! I wasn't sure, so I began to search everything there was about Labradoodles from Australia to America and back to Holland. I wanted to test how my allergies would be around an Australian Labradoodle first before I looked for available puppies. We had already seen a few in America at Waltzing Matilda's Labradoodles and I had fallen in love with a puppy named Italia who was a medium girl and really dark black. So, we went to visit Joyce at House of Labradoodles in Spubeek to test my allergies around this breed. I couldn't believe what was happening. I could stay for over two hours in a room with two dogs and several puppies without getting ill. So we went straight and emailed Michelle right away to see if Italia was still available, since we knew our only option would be to go on a waiting list for a puppy from Holland. We were thrilled to learn that she still had the puppy available. I asked her how do we get the dog in Holland, and she just said it's very simple. I will bring her to you as carry on in the cabin of the plane, so we don't have to ship her all that way. That was amazing. We made arrangements to meet in Venlo at her friend Carolien VanBeek of Van de Annahoeve Australian Labrdoodles. It was wonderful since it was much closer for us to go to Venlo than to drive to Amsterdam. When our Lady (Italia) arrived we were all very emotional... she was really such a beautiful dog. We enjoyed coffee and pie together, signed the papers and went home with our new family member. She was already nearly potty trained as well as crate trained, which was so very super. Even the first night, we didn't have to get up with her.  And now she is four weeks with us, and I have had no problems at all with my allergies. We couldn't even imagine our lives without her. So at last but not least we want to thank Michelle for giving us such an amazing dog.

Waltzing Matilda's Eva's Chief

Chief was great on the ride home. We stopped a few times and he went potty right away. We were really amazed. He only cried for about the first 15 minutes after we left. We just love him! Camryn was so excited to meet him. Chief really is amazing! We are so in love with him. He's the perfect blend of cuddly and playful. He is really doing well. He has only had a few accidents in the house.  I attached a picture of him and our daughter Camryn.

Waltzing Matilda's Emmalee

Emma fits in really well with our little family of 3 dogs and 2 people. She loves to play with the other girls and she sometimes jumps in Whoopi's basket to sleep with Whoopi in the same basket. That is an endearing sight ! Emma loves her food and eats very well. As soon as I get the food out of the fridge, she is already jumping up and down. I feed her raw meat with added vegetables (no corn!!!) and rice. That is all included in the meat I give her. It is the best we can get in the Netherlands. Emma's stools are firm and good and Emma is almost completely housetrained. She doesn't pee or pooh in the house and tries to wait until I take her outside. She is a wonderful dog and we love her to pieces.

Update.. We just got back from another week of  holidays. We took Meggie and Emma to the beaches and cliffs of Normandy and Picardie, both in the north of France. Emma loves chasing birds and so she had a wonderful time running after the seagulls. Little Emma is not so little anymore. She is changing teeth. She still has all her baby canine teeth and molars, but her little teeth up front of the lower jaw, are all "mature" now. She is just the most adorable pup you ever saw. We love her to pieces.

Waltzing Matilda's Goldie's Cooper

Thanks Michelle for helping bring Cooper into our life.  He has been an amazing addition to our family.  We don’t go anywhere without bringing him along.  He is incredibly athletic, loves to swim, and could play fetch all day long.  But he is also a sweet puppy who has charmed  our neighbors enough that they all want to keep him when we are gone.  And I can’t say enough about his stunning wavy coat.   Everyone just has to touch him to see if it is real.

Waltzing Matilda's Goldie's Murphy

I want to thank you again for our darling, Murphy man and give you a little update.

Murphy is by far the cutest puppy ever, of course we are biased!  We refer to him as "our big stuffed animal".  Just as you said, Murphy is the sweetest, most gentle, laid back little guy, but also very playful and fun. He does know when to chill, though, and finds his spot under the sunroom loveseat, ottoman, chair, or in front of the nearest A/C vent.  Everyone who sees Murphy thinks he’s the greatest puppy and some even pull out their phones to take his picture.  Micah is in heaven and thanks me all the time for getting a puppy!  Murphy has actually been a blessing to all of us…he’s got the best personality and temperament!

Murphy started puppy class (AKC Star) last week.  He missed the first class but I went without him.  Since he’s so darn smart, it took him no time to catch up to his little classmates.  Murphy has only had a few accidents in the house, the 2nd or 3rd day with us, and then this past Saturday with the babysitter when we attended another wedding.  That one doesn’t count as the sitter was a little overwhelmed with a new puppy and diabetic kid.  LOL!  Not to mention 2 yappy miniature schnauzers behind us, who are a nightmare and very distracting for Murphy!  I grew up with schnauzers who were good dogs but these two drive you crazy.  Anyway, Murphy has actually been a champ with the housetraining so far and even uses his Poochie Bells often.

Well, Michelle, we can see why Jamie was so taken by Murphy!!  He’s such a sweetie pie and snuggle-puss!  You may not have been raising labradoodles for long, but you certainly know what you are doing!  Murphy is simply a joy and we can’t thank you enough!

 Thanks again and God bless,

Sue and family - GA

Waltzing Matilda's Goldie's Skitz

Skitz is doing great. He's growing fast. What a great dog! He's just a really nice, kind, dog with a great energy. Everyone that sees him is impressed. He's just about housebroken. He hasn't had any accidents this week and rings the bell to go outside about 50% of the time. He knows a few basic commands. We're just waiting to get his last shots to sign up for puppy training.

I can tell you spent a great deal of time caring for these dogs. He lets you touch him everywhere, is gentle with kids, isn't afraid of anything, and doesn't bark at other dogs, etc. He's naturally curious too. Again, a great dog.  Thank you very much.

Waltzing Matilda's Trusty Boomer

" Boomer is doing GREAT!  He sleeps 9 hours in his crate at night.  Walks wonderfully on his leash.  We took him across our frozen frog pond yesterday and he licked the ice all the way!  He goes everywhere with us.  I love when I'm laying on the floor and he snuggles up beside me and takes a nap.  Drake says he's a GREAT dog.  High praise from the guy who wasn't even sure he wanted to get Flicka four years ago!!"

Update 01/01/10 - Boomer is 90% housetrained!  At least 20lbs!  As big as Flicka now.  I'll weigh him tomorrow.  Long and leggy teenager.  Smart and sweet and learning not to put his mouth on everything.  He LOVES Flicka.  They play constantly.  Drake is trying to make him "his" dog!  Ha.  He runs around outside with us and Flicka off-leash no problem on our land.  He is a big, fluffy, mellow teddy bear still.  One of my favorite things is when he has something in his mouth he's proud of, he cocks his head back to one side toward his shoulder and wiggle, wiggles all proudly... so cute!!

Hi Michelle and Jamie,

Just a quick email from the Netherlands showing you guys proudly how our lovely labradoodle LANA is doing. From your Goldie and Tennison August 28th 2009 litter.

I believe that the attached pictures speak for themselves...

We live in the most Southern tip of the Netherlands where our country borders with Germany (2 miles from where we live) and with Belgium (10 miles from where we live).

I hold great memories of your great State of Maryland, as more than 30 years ago (1977) I stayed as an exchange student in White Plains, MD for some months, and went to Charles County Community College and had a wonderful time.

Anyway.. LANA is doing great and although she is my daugher Carlys's (12 years old) dog, the whole family loves her and she keeps us really busy...

All the best from the Netherlands and... wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

 Regards,

Waltzing Matilda's Sadie Soleil

Sadie is wonderful and too cute for her own good.  She is definitely a lover but also has more energy than I do.  She loves to play, preferring the noisy toys of course, or to nap on the couch using Mom or Dad as a pillow.  Sadie has recently discovered she is tall enough to see out the front window and spends much of her day checking out the neighborhood.  She spends so much time at the window she usually takes a toy with her and leaves it on the window sill.  She absolutely loved the snow!

Sadie sleeps through the night but must have an internal clock that wakes her up between 6:00 and 6:30 every day!  I guess it’s a good thing that’s when I wake up for work.  As of mid December Sadie is a mere 11lbs but is healthy as can be.  She is still working on potty training but is progressing well.  She has not spent a lot of time on a leash but is doing great socializing with her doggy cousins and friends and all the people she meets.  She loves attention and wants to please.  What a great dog!!

Waltzing Matilda's Heavenly Grace

Here are some quotes from our family about Gracie.  We really love her.  She is a huge joy to us...

  • Gracie is cute (Rebecka, age 7)

  • Gracie is a cutie-pie (Daniel, age 9)

  • Gracie is a good dog (Josiah, age 13)

I love cats, but had shown allergies to them, so the best bet for me has been to get a dog and one that was an allergy-free pet. The wonder about Gracie is that she is the perfect mix between the two for me.  She will allow you to carry her around like a cat or she'll sit in your lap.  Yet, she is smart and responsive relationally which is the positive qualities of a dog!

We have so enjoyed Gracie.  I took pictures of her on my phone but it does not appear that they are emailing properly.  Really cute.  She seems real happy and has her wonderful ways of showing love.  She is so compassionate when someone gets hurt!  We had a great socialization opportunity for her with 10 children in the house plus several adults yesterday and she did wonderful.  She often goes with me to pick up the children from school and hang out with children, adults and their dogs.  We have enjoyed many positive comments about how laid back she is (we love that too!) and yet fun at the drop of a hat!  Yey, Gracie!  Yey, God for giving her to us!! - including such a great situation with you guys!

Waltzing Matilda's Keen L'il Digger

We met Digger in November 2009 when we were notified that there was an opportunity to be a guardian home for him. We kept him for a few days to make sure our traditionally cats-only family would be able to adapt to a puppy. I quickly starting loving him and couldn't wait to have him with the family.

During the next few months, Michelle taught us (including hands on lessons) how to raise a puppy and start training him at home.  She also showed us grooming basics and the care and feeding of a healthy puppy.  We are extremely happy with him.  As a family, we are now a dog and cat family.  We are taking him to star puppy training soon, and look forward to many years of fun that Digger will provide our family.
